The Heartbreak Kid(HBK)
While it’s sad to see summer go, fall brings many great things – in particular, all the best movies start to be released in anticipation of ‘Oscar’s season’. Normally these are heavy and sophisticated pictures – but every so often a great comedy gets released around this time. “The Heartbreak Kid” is one of the funniest movies of the year, and it’s about to come to a theater near you on October 5th. Think Farrelly Brothers, Ben Stiller, and his always hysterically funny dad, Jerry, and ever so many more talents. Don’t miss “The Heartbreak Kid” if you like comedies, it’s sure to be a classic.

It won’t surprise you to know that Ben Stiller lands in a world of trouble right from the start. He falls in love and rushes his new flame to the altar with his father’s blessing, before taking the time to really get to know her. He ‘the last single man standing’ of his friends and it’s time to do something about it. He meets the “perfect” woman – and she’s ready and willing to marry him. She’s beautiful, sexy, fun, and best of all she’s totally into him. Flash forward to the honeymoon and you’ll soon learn just how big a mistake he made.

Oops!

Yeah, too late Ben as Eddie learns the cold hard truth. Lila the Incredible turns out to be Lila the Completely Insane. To top that off, Eddie meets Miranda, who really is perfect for him and he for her. What to do, what to do? In the always amazing Ben Stiller fashion he stumbles and bumbles his way to finding a solution. If you’re already a fan of Ben you’re probably laughing just imagining this plot; if you’re not this movie will convert you. No one plays the clueless nice guy quite like him.

Much Talent

Movie buffs are sure to recognize many big names involved in this production. Writing and directing credits belong to Peter and Bobby Farrelly. They always bring a special touch to their projects, which are numerous and high quality. Most famous are “Dumb and Dumber”, “There’s Something About Mary”, and “Shallow Hal”. Longtime, devoted fans rave about their full body of work which includes both big and small screen productions. Films such as “Fever Pitch”, “Me Myself and Irene”, and “Stuck on You” give further looks into their unique, sometimes twisted, and always humorous take on the world and its inhabitants. Ultimately though, they reaffirm our belief that the good guys usually win even if it’s a complicated road.

"The Heartbreak Kid" is based on a short story by Bruce Jay Friedman (“A Change of Plan”) and a screenplay written 35 years ago by the incomparable Neil Simon. Executive Producers include John Davis, Joe Rosenberg, and Marc S. Fischer. Ted Field and Bradley Thomas share producing credits. A number of other talented actors comprise the rest of the cast including Michelle Monaghan, Polly Holliday, and Carlos Mencia.

Whether you need an end-of-summer, pre-winter laugh or just enjoy great entertainment, don’t miss Heartbreak Kid Movie. It’s a terrific piece of work put together by some of the world’s most talented people.
